Most of his advice is great for the typical breadwinner of a family, or a single person. It makes me feel motivated to do better with my finances, and that is worth the price of the book (hahaha which was free, because my friend purchased it for me). While the ideas are simple, all of us need reminders about what we can do to help our situation. However getting a second job or third job isn't always a valid option for single parents (when the second job doesn't pay enough to cover the cost of daycare. I do resent that he said that broke people are also FAT. I'm not fat :p. or you can't even find daycare at 7pm to go hit up your second job). I would have appreciated a few more suggestions for those of us already in a time crunch, but good advice regardless.
I sincerely hope you guys out there, who are so hungry for a change, GET THIS BOOK. I have not read many books before this, and I can only say that I have not wasted my time reading this. This book enlightened me and showed me the errors of my ways. Read It. Put it into practice and see the results."If you didn't want to be broke, you wouldn't be broke." - Larry Winget
Larry Winget is a "tell it like it is" author. If you need to get your finances working for you, this book will give you the plan to follow. There will be no whining tolerated, learn to take responsibility and turn your financial life around. I can't believe I had not heard of this great author before.
I quite enjoyed Winget's short-lived program on A&E, "Big Spender," in which he bludgeoned people over the head with the truth about their lousy spending habits. This book was purchased as a gift for a relative who is constantly broke. Hopefully, she will get something out of it.
Sound advice, simple, basic, and makes a person sit back and take a good in depth look at themselves. This is the best book I have ever read on financial advice ever. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to make positive changes and aren't afraid of the truth. There is no tiptoeing through the tulips with this author. He's brutally honest and in your face. I will be getting copies for my children, who will soon be adults themselves. The advice the author gives in this book is easy to understand, if you are willing to admit to your mistakes and poor choices, and the worksheets are very helpful in getting you started in the right direction.
